Eligibility Criteria for the NSW ESS Scheme:

To tap into the advantages of the NSW ESS Scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Residency in NSW.
  • Being a customer of an electricity retailer participating in the scheme.
  • Businesses must hold a valid Australian Business Number (ABN).
  • Households can also participate, especially if they are part of their electricity retailer’s hardship program.
  • The equipment or system installed should aim to reduce electricity consumption.

    • What Products Qualify for the NSW Government ESS Scheme?

  • Air Conditioners: Only split system air conditioners with a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of 3.5 or more are eligible for rebates under the scheme. Window-mounted units are excluded.
  • Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems: Eligible solar PV systems must have a minimum capacity of 1 kW. This scheme also applies to aggregated installations that meet or exceed 1 kW.
